Pirates of the Caribbean – The Dead Man’s Chest

Pirates of Caribbean - Dead man's Chest

This is my review of Pirates of the Caribbean – The Dead Man’s Chest. I just have the opportunity to watch this long-awaited sequel of ‘The Curse of the Black Pearl’ last Monday. It’s a common thing that most sequal wouldn’t be as good as the original one. For those who haven’t watched it, my summarized review below might contains spoilers. My review will be about the comparison between this sequel and original one. If you would like to read about the proper review, Internet Movie Database is a great place to go.
I must say that the original movie has a greater plot. In the original movie, the plot-twisting lingers till the end of the movie, with plenty of satisfying suspense like Elizabeth and Jack stucked in unpopulated island, the death of Barbossa, the escape of Jack Sparrow from death penalty and many more. However the sequel don’t have the same quality. The plot starts with William Turner (Bloom) searching for Jack Sparrow (Depp) to save Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) from prison. Ironically, Elizabeth saves herself and goes to find Will. It’s like Will’s sacrifice is of no use except he got the chance to see his father and got the key to something unrelated to him. The suspense of Will stealing the key from Davy Jones is completely trivial, it’s just steal and run.

Keira Knightley johnny Depp

Elizabeth apperance in the sequel is not as significance as in the original movie where she sacrifice her life to save her love. The adventure that she endures when she is saving Will, saved by Jack, used for his escape and many more shows her beauty and exquisiteness. In the sequel, don’t hope to see that much. The last time you will see her wearing corset or women dress is in the first 10 minutes before she starts to wear men dress for the rest of the film. What a waste (^^)’

Davy Jones (Nighy) is the villain in this sequal. However, his appearance does’t bring much exciting in this sequel compared to Barbossa who is funnily wicked, heroic and ‘live up’ to his word. Barbossa’s presence is greatly contributing to enliven Jack Sparrow casting, something that Davy Jones fails to do in the sequel. I glad that Barbossa will come back in the second sequel. Can’t wait for it.

All in all, cinematographic in this sequel is still great especially with stunning, lively graphic of Davy Jones tentacles.lol. The huge Kraken and good fighting segments help to prevent the movie from being boring.

Ok that’s all from me. Don’t hesitate to give your opinion about this movie.

Cast overview:

aku rasa movie yg no.2 ni lagi best. walaupun cite tu agak tebelit-btelit skit tp masa 2 jam lebih tu memang bebaloi utk tgk. Sebab lg banyak plot baru dikeluarkan tp dgn syarat kene tgk betul2 kalu x, x paham apa kaitannya.
Citer yg part 1 tu mcm biasa je ada happy ending story..simple. Tp yg part 2 ni buat aku x sabo2 nak tgk part 3 pulak..lama lagi pulak 2 mcm nak menunggu cite star wars dulu. Apa2 pun aku suka dgn movie ni. Komen aku this is ‘interesting movie’.
